Our 2020 conference :
Cultivating a Culture for Succession
A Tory majority.
The week before we assemble for the Sentry Farming Conference in February this year, we will have left the EU.
What this precisely means for British Farmers is still unclear, however a period of change looms. Our Conference for 2020, titled ‘Cultivating a Culture for Succession,’ will focus on three key areas in preparation:
Collaboration, Succession and Leadership.
The UK agriculture has a historically poor record of collaboration. Trailing most of the world. We will hear from both ends of the earth, from Scotland to New Zealand on how a farming business and a whole sector have collaborated for personal and industry benefit. Succession, too often seen as an addendum to Will planning, is a largely misunderstood and misrepresented necessity for progression. Careful and strategic succession planning can propel a business’ fortunes. It must not be confined to a conversation for business owners. Theory, Case Studies and Experts will share their opinions and open the floor for your questions.
Finally, a period of great change requires discipline and leadership. The Sentry Lecture will have the privilege of welcoming Sir Alastair Cook for a question and answer session. Drawing on his experience as England’s leading Test run scorer and Cricket Captain, Sir Alastair will make parallels with an industry preparing for change and how it has helped prepared him for life as a sheep farmer.
